About UsThe Head Start Association of Hawaii and the Outer Pacific is a membership organization of Head Start directors, staff, parents and community members who are advocates for ensuring that children and families of low-income are provided quality comprehensive services to promote healthy and successful outcomes in school and in life.
Because this task requires the collective energies of many, the Association seeks to promote new partnerships and collaborative initiatives within the State to share information, knowledge and experiences, and to leverage resources to maximize outcomes for children and families. Association members currently participate on State planning bodies and advisory councils, and are actively involved in community planning and advocacy within their respective local service areas.
Since 2008, the Association has also contributed towards the coordination of professional development within the early childhood community by sponsoring a minimum of two workshop events a year which have been opened to community partners. The Association is committed to continuing this endeavor and has created a strategic plan that includes a training plan schedule, as well as a financial development plan to support this.
